Are you curious to discover the technology used for these wipes?
PVA or Polyvinyl Alcohol is a highly water-soluble polymer widely used to package detergent tablets for washing machines and dishwashers. What are we to make of it?- It's a petroleum derivative with an industrial process and associated pollution.- It does away with the need for plastic packaging.
- It is considered biodegradable: a wide variety of natural micro-organisms degrade PVA without leaving harmful residues.
- Its low toxicity for humans means that it can be used by the food industry (packaging) or the pharmaceutical industry (capsule manufacture). These products offer a practical, zero-waste solution, but are not yet perfect in terms of eco-design.
When will we see water-soluble wipes based on natural polysaccharides?
